GLENMORE TRAIL


On the week of March 31, 2025, the Southview Off-leash Dog Park area between Deerfoot Trail and the Western Headworks Main Canal in the Southeast will be closed to public access. This land is provincially owned and fill material (soil) from this site will be used for construction on Deerfoot Trail. Closure of the off-leash area is required for the safety of the public and their pets.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?

EQUIPMENT MOBILIZATION & FILL EXCAVATION
Crews and heavy machinery will be active within the park area to prepare for the removal of the fill material, which will begin as soon as soil conditions allow. Further details will be shared when known. There will be a temporary fence placed around the dog park for the safety of the public. Please obey all posted signage and remain outside the construction limits.

TIMELINE
Once begun, fill (soil) removal is expected to continue for the entirety of 2025. The Southview Dog Park will remain closed to public use until soil removal is fully completed. Further updates will be shared with the public regarding timelines for this work as progress is made.

24-HOUR WORK
All activities will be conducted during daytime and nighttime hours to reduce overall traffic impacts during the transportation of fill material to the sites.

Dog Park users are encouraged to plan ahead and visit the City of Calgary’s Off-Leash Dog Areas Map to find alternate off-leash dog park areas to use while this work proceeds.

What is happening at the Southview Off-leash Dog Park?
