2024 FALL CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

As we wrap up the 2024 construction season, the Deerfoot Trail Improvements team would like to share an overview of the work that has happened this year.

Construction crews continue to make strides in all project areas to set up foundations and substructures for the construction of new bridges and modified interchanges. This section focuses on highlights of 2024 progress at Glenmore Trail, and contains references to different types of bridge elements and structures. For ease of understanding, we’ve included a visual of the anatomy of a bridge.

Anatomy of a bridge

There has been increased work on the Glenmore Trail Improvement Area. Notable construction progress this season includes grading on eastbound Glenmore Trail and southbound Deerfoot Trail, as well as widening the Deerfoot southbound ramp. Median removal and paving are also taking place alongside the construction of piers for the new Glenmore Trail intersection.
