How will Deerfoot Trail be improved in this area?

  • Weaving traffic between Anderson Road & Bow Bottom Trail and Southland Drive will be eliminated:
    • Deerfoot Trail between Anderson Road & Bow Bottom Trail and Southland Drive. This means that vehicles coming onto Deerfoot Trail from Anderson Road and Bow Bottom Trail use the same lane that vehicles leaving Deerfoot Trail use to access Southland Drive.
    • This area will be reconfigured to eliminate this weave zone, which will improve safety and traffic flow, and increase the capacity of this important, high-volume area.
  • The capacity of the off ramp from northbound Deerfoot Trail to Anderson Road & Bow Bottom Trail will be improved by adding an additional lane.
  • Additional lanes will be added on mainline Deerfoot Trail, and there will be a minimum of three continuous lanes in each direction.
